Quarterly Letter from the President - April 2018

Although mother nature was not particularly kind to us during the first quarter of 2018 we are well positioned to have an excellent 2018 overall.

When discussing our club’s recent activities and future plans it is essential that the issue of safety remain uppermost in the minds of all members at all times. Our club has not had a serious accident in its 84 year history and we intend to do everything possible to avoid having accidents in the future, that includes our having a “Zero Tolerance” policy when it comes to safety violations.

Violations of ASC safety regulations have been few but when they have occurred swift and effective actions were undertaken by the BOD with respect to the parties involved in an effort to insure that such instances will not be repeated.

In order that you do not unintentionally violate an ASC safety policy it is the responsibility of every ASC member to be constantly aware of the ASC Range Rules and By Laws.

With respect to current club activities they now include the new trap range having become operational in December 2017. With the pending arrival of better weather certain finishing touches to that range as well as improvements to the outdoor rifle range will take place along with a continuing facilities maintenance program.

Regarding other department functions ASC has a remarkable training program that resulted in approximately 125 individual training classes having been conducted during 2017 including courses of specific interest to youth and female members. As evinced on the club’s web site additional courses are being added during 2018.

With respect to new membership our efforts to emphasize ASC as being a safe and friendly family oriented club continues unabated. Those efforts include highly successful family related functions such as; the booth at the Andover Day celebration, participation in holiday parades, a highly successful children’s Christmas party, the annual children’s fishing derby and a new Family membership fee structure.

During 2018 I encourage members to attend the membership meetings held at 7:30 PM the second Thursday of every month (except July and August) preceded by an excellent dinner commencing at 6:30 PM.

Keeping in mind that there is a bespoke Director responsible for every club activity I encourage you to not only attend membership meetings but that you also make an effort to become better acquainted with your Directors and fellow members. In order to make attending membership meetings as useful as possible every effort is being made to have a guest speaker or special event at each meeting.

Your club continues to be managed under strict financial policies and controls and as such we anticipate being able to continue providing new and/or improved facilities and additional activates for the enjoyment of all members.

On behalf of your BOD we hope every ASC member has safe and enjoyable experiences at the club during the balance of 2018.

Respectfully,
Dick Reichter, President
