Letter from the President - March 2014

Dear members,

Notwithstanding the unending bitter cold weather, all ASC operations have continued unabated including activities that may not be generally thought of as mainstream; such as the high quality re-development of the club house annex, the significant increase in the number of members that enjoy breakfast at the club on Sunday, and an increase in the number of members that enjoy our mid-week poker break.

With respect to mainstream activities those are highlighted in detail in the individual department monthly website updates, and as the weather slowly begins to improve a variety of initiatives will be announced.

In closing this month's website comments, it is incumbent upon me to provide the following announcement with the hope that when you next see Tom Lumb you will thank him for his many contributions as Outdoor Range Director:

ANNOUNCEMENT
As all of us are painfully aware, one of the problems associated with a private club that depends on a handful of volunteers to do 90% of the work, is that frequently due to the demands of family or work (or both) one must limit the amount of time that someone can reasonably be expected to devote to ASC matters.

We have experienced examples of that within the last year or so involving Jerry Rubik and John Eisenhower, and unfortunately a similar situation has arisen whereby the "real world" work related demands on his time is such that Tom Lomb has stepped down as Outdoor Range Director. Although I expect to announce a replacement within the next few days, I will temporarily act in that capacity.

It goes without saying that Tom is one of the hardest working, honest, and congenial person one could ever want to work with. Not only is that which he has contributed immensely appreciated, it is my hope that circumstance will be such that Tom might again be willing to become a member of the BOD in the not too distant future.

Thank you,
Dick Reichter, President
