Results of Trap "Fun Birds" Shoot
Submitted by asc-admin on April 17, 2014 - 12:00am
Saturday turned out to be a gorgeous day to shoot trap. With 14 shooters showing up we got under way just after 9am. Thank you to Steve L for bringing coffee and donuts.
Everyone finishing their first round from 16 yards and the leader with a 23 was Phil J. Right behind him all tied with a score of 22 were Whit H, Ken G, and Erik A. The second round saw some high scores from Sam W and Tony C. and some professional sand bagging from Kip S and Steve L.
With the first 50 shots done we tallied up the scores and set the field for the last round of 25 shots of handicap. Shooting from the 22yd line was Whit and Ken. Shooting from the 20yd line was Phil, Tony, Sam and Erik. The rest of the shooters would shoot from the 16 yd line Kip, Steve L, Peter C, Steve H, Cheryl, Suzanne, Dave H and Billy.
The handicap round showed how hard it can be backing up just a few yards as some of the scores dropped. Whit H proved that you don't always need the highest score in each round to win but more importantly the most consistent score. Whit averaged a 21.6 over 3 rounds (65 total) getting him the win! In second place with a total of 63 was Erik A and rounding out the top three was Sam W with a 62 total.
Congratulations to the top three winners and to Billy for winning the random draw for a trap card. As for the two sandbaggers? Well, let's just say that the next time they compete in an event like this, you will probably see them shooting their handicaps from 22 yards or more.
As always we had a great time and a lot of laughs too. Please keep checking the web site for the next event to be scheduled for May.
