Board of Directors Update - December 2016

The Board of Directors reports are as follows for the month of December 2016:

Vice President (Frank Bleszinski):
At the December 8 members meeting we will have our usual Christmas Feast. Richard Bruce will again be our guest chef with plenty for all to eat.

The last 2 Youth Firearm classes were full a few weeks prior to the class. The next class, December 17, is already 3/4  full. Watch the web site for additional classes as well as Youth pistol and Youth shotgun.

Outdoor Range (Phil Proto):
Outdoor Pistol Range miscellaneous items have been purchased including rule signage specific to this range.

Additional (50+) tires have been installed to reinforce the outdoor rifle range berms at the 50 and 75 yard.

Target stands at the 50 yard have been moved off the back of the berm to the front. This was done to prevent shooters from climbing the back of the berm causing erosion. Several layers of tires have been stacked to protect the wooden target stands.

Please check website for Police department training and additional training sessions for range closings especially for night shoots (usually from 5 pm – 9 pm.

Recruiting to add to the outdoor team in order to provide maintenance, modifications or do outdoor range orientation.

Indoor Range (Al Croteau):
No report received.

Trap (Tony Capone):
No report recieved.

Archery (Robert Beals):
Not too much to report this month, we’re waiting on the delivery of new cabinets for the archery cabin, and further improvements continue to be planned.

This has been a successful year for archery. With the expansion of the practice range and the improvements on the 3d course, we offer one of the best archery facilities in the area.

All of this would not possible without the help from a number of people, I would like to thank Brad Reichter and skip Waetly for all the excavation to the practice range. For regular maintenance and assistance with the 3d course and practice range I would like to thank the following members for always being willing and able to help; Charlie McCue, Lou Lampes, Harry Lampes, and Bobby Crossman. I’d also like to thank Mike DiNunzio for helping out with field maintenance and targets.

Without this support we would not be able to provide and maintain the archery program at a high level.

Security (Bill MacKenzie):
Nothing to report for this month.

Facilities (Mike Pierce):
Summer and fall are behind us, and looking forward to winter projects at the club.

The new outdoor pistol range project is nearly complete, and almost ready to be used.

The garage has been moved from the lower location to where it is now, and wiring still needs to be completed.

The new trap range will be the next major project that we tackle.

Community Relations (Matt Lavoie):
I am looking for a volunteer to help run a raffle table at member's meetings. If you are interested in helping, please send me an email.

The club will be making its regular donation to the Veterans Northeast Outreach Center.

The 2017 fish derby is expected to be held on May 6th, 2017.

Training (Steve Cioffi):
Training would like to wish everyone a safe and Happy Holiday season.

2016 has proven to be a big success for training. I would like to thank the 32 volunteers that have made this possible.

Training will introduce many new classes for the 2017 season. Watch the calendar and register early, our classes fill up very quickly.

Membership (Steve Harsfald):
Greetings Members and Prospective Members:

William E. "Bill" LeBlanc Jr., long time outdoor range director, lost his battle with cancer last month.  We celebrated Bill's life with his wife, Joanne and family members November 13th at his beloved outdoor range with a shooting salute, and stories from his friends.

Our treasurer has been sifting through the membership roles and found that we lost some members this year.  The following life members we know were lost this year:  Herbert J. Blanche, John J. Ahern Jr., William J. Mowat, Michael R. Ciampa, Robert L. Rivers, Robert S. Rogers Jr., and James E. Malcolm.  Please keep our members that have passed and their families in your thoughts.

Remember our December membership dinner will be a "Festivus Feast" not to be missed!  If you have a desert or favorite side dish, please bring it.  Dues are payable no later than December 31, or late fees will be incurred.  If you have changed your email or address please update with us.  If you need stocking stuffers, we have hats, fleece vests, sweatshirts, and T-shirts for sale.  See any director for help with purchases, Sunday morning, Wednesday night or the meeting night is the best time.

I will be leaving the board of directors this month.  It has been an honor and pleasure serving the membership.  Please give Cheryl Crawford the same help and support you have given me, I know Cheryl will do a great job, besides her computer skills are much better than mine!

Have a safe and healthy Holiday Season!
