Board of Directors Update - November 2015
Submitted by asc-admin on November 6, 2015 - 12:00pm
The Board of Directors reports are as follows for the month of November 2015.
Vice President (Frank Bleszinski):
All who attended our Fall Barbecue and Dance had a good time. Anyone interested in the organizing of such events in the future should email me at fjbasc@aol.com.
Check our website for all upcoming events.
Outdoor Range (Dave Williams):
I would to thank the following people who helped out during the work party: Mike L., Mark K., Jeff D., Lori D., Alan A., Dave O., and Don P.
We will be scheduling one more work party to load the storage container and install the door on the warming room. I will post the date as soon as I get it worked out.
The new outdoor range rules are posted. Please take a few minutes to read and understand them. Remember to check the club calendar for dates that the range is closed for police training.
- Fire arms should be transported from your car to the shooting stations unloaded and with the action open.
- Ground shooting at any targets is not allowed on the outdoor range.
- Target frames are designed to hold one target centered in the frame.
Indoor Range (Al Croteau):
No report.
Trap (Tony Capone):
Fall is in full swing and it tends to bring out more shooters each year. As always, please be patient and understand that the trap operator is a volunteer!
Last month we held our annual Trap championship and I would like to congratulate Angelo V. for winning. Thanks to everyone that came out to participate, and to all those who helped.
This month we are having our famous Turkey shoot on Sunday Nov 15th at 9am sharp! This is one event you don't want to miss... (no turkeys will be hurt during this event)
The winter trap league is starting on Nov 18th and will run for 17 weeks each Wednesday night. For more league info and sign up email league director Doug Burden at dugburden@aol.com.
The next intro to trap class will be held Dec 5th, please check the website to sign up.
Archery (Dick Reichter):
The two archery containers are being worked on; both containers have been sandblasted and repainted on the inside with the same anti corrosive paint used on the exterior. Work benches and storage will also be added to the inside of both containers. The roof is being sealed with a rubber membrane to prevent any future leaks.
On both 3D trails, additional trail markers will be placed on the trails so it will be easier to be followed, each trail will have its own identifying color to distinguish the different trails.
A map of the trails is also being created with GPS coordinates; a laminated copy will be located at the trail head. The map will also include a legend identifying each target.
Additional safety railings will be added to the tree stand located at the practice area, as well as a belt that will need to be used when shooting from the stand.
As discussed in the October archery meeting, the television has been installed in the Archers cabin.
There will be more details to come on conduct and expectations.
Security (Bill MacKenzie):
During the month of October, I received an email that an archer who was on the archery range may have had a near miss of being hit with an arrow while on the long archery trail. After an investigation, the report could not be verified. As a result of this report, it was decided that a safety inspection be conducted of the archery range to identify any safety issues that may exist. As a result of the inspection, there were no major deficiencies found and the report was filed with the Archery Director.
Facilities (Mike Pierce):
Summer is over, and fall is here. Summer-time projects and fall-time projects have been going very well.
Archery sheds have been moved, cleaned, sandblasted and painted on the inside
Outdoor pistol range project is going very well, the back stop has been installed. The shoooing house foundation is next to be installed and the house after that.
The rock wall beside the archery sheds is an ongoing project to be completed this fall.
Fall clean up went very well and new grass seed was planted on the trap range. Hope to see golf course green grass on trap range.
Hope to see you all there at the ASC!!
Community Relations (Paul Miller):
Plans are underway for one of our biggest community events of the year, the 2016 Fishing Derby. It will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 and will start at 6:00 am. Please let me know if you are available to help.
Training (Sam Washburn):
Some 2016 classes have been scheduled. Others will be added before year end. Stay tuned to the website.
Membership (Steve Harsfald):
As our year winds down, looking back we have made many improvements to all venues of the club, and continue with several projects into the new year. As you know most of the work done at the club is volunteer. At the fall work party we had approximately 25 members arrive to help. We enjoyed a great breakfast and lunch and accomplished most of our tasks to be done. 25 members out of approximately 1900 members is a little disappointing. We do not have mandatory work requirements like some of the local clubs and understand people have life outside the club. During the year ALL venues of the club need help, this is your club to enjoy, so if you can spare a little time doing ANYTHING, it would be greatly appreciated, and give you a sense of pride in your club. Talk to any of the directors in whatever area you are interested.
Please take time to check the digital sign as you drive into the club for any important information, we try and keep it up to date with important items and direct you back to the club website for details.
Please remember 2016 Dues are payable no later than December 31. If you did not receive your statement via email, or for those members who still use the Postal Service, it is still your responsibility to submit your dues to maintain membership.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving with family.
