Beginner Archery Instruction for Youth - Indoor Archery Range

We will be offering beginner archery instruction for youth on Saturday August 27th at 11:00 AM to 12:30pm.

Youths are generally considered ages 8-15. 

IMPORTANT: Participants must be able to draw a bow of approximately 17-20 pounds if using club equipment.

Each session will consist of the following:

  • Range safety
  • Basic equipment explanations – Bow types, Bow and Arrow components
  • Proper handling of equipment
  • Introduction to the USA Archery steps of shooting
  • Developing the proper shooting form

For those with your own equipment please bring it.  The club will supply equipment for those who do not have their own.

The session will have a maximum of 10 participants as this is the number of lanes in the indoor range.

The session will be conducted by ASC members Jorge Kluchnik and Jim Stevens, both USA Archery Level III Coaches.

Classic Car Show & Annual Pig Roast

Classic Car Show & Pig Roast
Saturday, September 17th 9am till 3pm

We will be hosting our annual pig roast on Saturday, September 17th along with a classic car show, on the Trap Field.  Bring your car, or just come and hang out.  Show off your baby. All makes, models, and years. Classics, Hot Rods, Rat Rods, Antiques, Exotics.  No entry fee - All cars owned by club members and guests are welcome. To get an approximate car count, please email us with your name, car make, model and year. Send email to: outdoor-range@andoversportsmensclub.org 

The pigs start cooking at 6am. the car show starts at 9am and runs through 3pm.  The feast should start at 1pm.  It's potluck format; we provide the pig and some sides. You just need to bring yourself, your family, and one of your favorite side dishes or desserts.

All ranges will be closed until 3pm.

ASC Ladies Pistol 101 (Indoor Pistol Range Closed 6pm to 8:30pm)

2 sessions: 6pm - 7pm or 7:30pm - 8:30pm

This evening is geared to women who have never trained with a handgun or have not trained in a long time.  Choose only one session please. ASC pistol instructors will review safety, knowledge, and skill necessary to
safely handle handguns in a comfortable learning environment. Please bring your small caliber pistol, ammo ( at least 50 rounds), ear & eye protection.  Closed toe shoes/sneakers, no V-neck or sleeveless shirts please.

Baba Yaga Blowout - Saturday Aug. 27th

The Baba Yaga Blowout is a timed/scored event with three shooting phases... Pistol, Rifle, and Rifle/Pistol.  Participants must use their own firearms, ammunition, hearing and eye protection.  The Club will provide Range Safety Officers. This is a timed/scored event which must be completed in 3 minutes. Participants will shoot from a standing, unsupported position forward of the firing line and from 3 different stations:

  1. Station 1 - Pistol: Competitor has to score stacked hits on each of the 5 steel targets at a distance of 25 yards. Each magazine will have 5 rounds therefore a magazine change will be required.
  2. Station 2 - Rifle: Competitor has to score hits from behind a barrier onto a single steel target at a distance of 50 yards.
  3. Station 3 - Rifle/Pistol: Competitor has to score 10 rifle hits and 10 pistol hits onto a single IPSC target located at 25 yards. Each magazine will have 5 rounds therefore magazine changes will be required.

 

  • Failure to complete all stages, or exceed the total time will result in a disqualification.
  • Scoring is based on successful completion of ALL rounds, cumulative score on the IPSC target, and total elapsed time will be used in the event of  a tie.
  • Participants are required to use proper/safe shooting techniques and firearms management.  
  • There is no registration fee.  The event is limited to 12 members/participants.

Cancellation/No-show Policy:  If you sign up and then decide not to attend, you must go back to the EventBrite site and cancel your registration at least 5 days prior to the event date. You will be invoiced a $5/person "No Show" fee if you fail to cancel.

To cancel a registration:  1. Go to the EventBrite site and log in (www.eventbrite.com). 2. Click on the "My Tickets" link. 3. Click the "View Order" button for the class you want to cancel. 4. Click the "Cancel Order" button and confirm.
