Directors' Updates

January 2018 Community Relations Update

The children’s Christmas party was held on Dec 17. A great time was had by all, about 30 children attended. Many thanks to Frosty The Snowman (Al Croteau), Santa’s Elf (Talia Pasco) and the special guest Santa (Kevin O’Leary). A special thanks to Donna Rochon for the awesome Snowman cake, Frank for the treats from the kitchen, Guy for the fruit punch and Jimmy for taking pictures. This event would not have happened without Brad and his email blasts.

January 2018 Security Update

I still receive complaints about members not adhering to range rules. The main violations are those of members bringing in guests and allowing them to use multiple shooting ports and not staying within arms length of their guests. These are range rule violations and will be investigated and the results will be brought before the Board of Directors.

Please read your range rules to avoid any safety issues that could turn into unintended consequences.

January 2018 Indoor Range Update

For the year 2017 the club sold 6,232 targets and about 100 sets of ear protection, returning $1266.59 to the general fund.

In 2017 we replaced both 7.5hp blower motors and kept the older one as a spare.

A new delayed start system for the blowers was installed. This it is hoped will increase the life of the blower motors To date, there are over 400 hours of run time on the motors.

Both heating systems were serviced in 2017.

There was a great increase in members calling or e-mailing problems at the range.

January 2018 Facilities Update

The year of 2018 is here. The #2 Trap Range will be open to use in the daylight hours. The house has been completed, the shooting ports have been measured, and the machine has been installed and tested.

Arrangements have been made for the archery range and trap field to be shoveled after each snow fall.

See you all at the club!

January 2018 Trap Update

Happy New Year! 2017 was a busy year for the trap/skeet range with a number of trainings, events and work on the fields. I would like to first, thank all of the operators and volunteers for their help throughout the year as we couldn’t run the range without the support.

The new trap field has been completed and ready for daytime use. Thank you to all that helped – and we will hold an inaugural event once this cold breaks. The new field will be opened at the operator’s discretion through the winter so please be respectful of their decision. We are all volunteers so if there are concerns, please reach out to me but thank the operators for what they do!

On January 14 th we will be holding our annual Spirit Shoot. There will be 4 different events and they fill up fast so please come early. It is a great shoot every year and is lots of fun for all levels. Look for more information soon.

Finally, a reminder to all shooters. Please only sign up for a squad at a time – this will become particularly important as we increase the use of the second field. Also – shooters should only be punching their cards before they shoot – not several squads ahead of time. Again – this will allow us to manage the fields accordingly and allow for smooth operations. I appreciate your cooperation with both of these rules.

Finally, with the cold weather and snowstorms, watch the website for cancellations. We will post as early as possible on any closures.

September 2017 Archery Update

We will be placing an order for additional 3D targets and will be relocating some targets as well as adding targets to the 3D course. Trail maintenance will be performed, volunteers to assist is always greatly appreciated.

On the practice range we are in the process of designing and installing a wall between the new trap range and the archery field. Our goal with the wall is first for safety and maintaining a visually pleasing effect on the practice range side.

First a big thank you to Tim, Don, Alan, and Mike for all the help with the maintenance during the summer months on the outdoor range.

Please check website for range closings because of Police department training and ASC training sessions.
